What is therapy?

Therapy (counselling) means different things to different people, and there are many approaches to it.

You may be interested in it because you are struggling with something. The situation may be impacting on your feelings, thoughts, behaviours, work, health or relationships.

Perhaps you want help in navigating through a time of loss, change or development.

Perhaps you want to understand your life (past, present or future) and your identity more clearly, to be able to explore and make choices that leave you fulfilled.

Maybe you'd like to find a space to express yourself and be heard by another person without any judgement, pressure or agenda.

Therapy offers an opportunity to do all of the above and more, in the context of a confidential, respectful and trusting relationship.

My approach

My approach

I am an integrative therapist, which means that I am trained to draw flexibly on a range of therapeutic approaches, tailored - in dialogue with you - to suit your current needs and preferences.

As we go along we will discover and monitor what seems to be more or less helpful to you. I will encourage you to take the lead in terms of what material you bring and how you might want us to explore it.

I will seek to help you use all your personal and life resources - thoughts, feelings, strengths, convictions, relationships, and more - to increase the freedom you have to make the choices and changes you want.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (register number 380867) and am bound by their ethical framework.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London (a BACP-accredited course).

I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, addictions, trauma, stress, and difficulties with relationships and employment, amongst others.

Rates and availability

Sessions are 50 minutes long and will usually take place on a weekly basis, face-to-face. I can also offer video sessions if necessary, via zoom.

After an initial taster session, during which we will assess your needs, you will be free to choose whether to move forward with therapy. We can discuss how working together might look: for example, in a time-limited or open-ended way.

I charge £65 per session. A limited number of concessionary slots may be available.
