The Book of Psalms - Chapter IV
Journey: Strength & Courage
Date: Friday 17th January 2025
Time: 6pm open rehearsal, 8pm worship and performance (till 9pm)
Cost: Free, donation only (suggested donation £12)
“On an expedition, perhaps we need a few ‘Are we there yet?’ moments to fully savour the reward of eventually reaching our goal. And perhaps being fit for the journey helps ensure those moments don’t sour into ‘We’re never going to get there!’ moments” - Edwin Fawcett
In a culture that prizes speed and instant gratification, the cliché “it’s not about the destination, but the journey” can ring hollow. Perseverance and bravery are rendered redundant by convenience and comfort. Why hope for what I can have now?
Let’s tie our laces by taking the risk of committing to a goal, a route, and companions on the way. Let’s pack our rucksacks with plenty of encouragement - and then, setting off, let’s sing marching songs!
Strength and courage free us to focus on the blessings of our inevitable pilgrimages.
The Book of Psalms is a series of four open-rehearsal-style worship and performance events, in celebration of composer Edwin Fawcett’s fortieth birthday in 2024.
Through the year, Edwin will share forty songs based on the Book of Psalms with his band and other guests - including twenty previously unheard/unreleased songs.
Not a big singer? No problem!
Come along to observe, learn, support and grow.
