“Into my open hands a gift is placed. True gratitude pauses that moment of open receptivity and humble awe, so my hands don’t close over the gift. This reduces the risk that in wishing to protect what I’ve received, I end up crushing what could be shared” - Edwin Fawcett
A work-driven world encourages us to owe nothing to anyone, but to strive for (our own) success. We can end up considering kindness and generosity a sign of weakness - or even duplicity.
Let’s gather to remember we actually owe everything to the One who gave all. Let’s trade scarcity thinking for evidence of abundant providence - singing ancient words on which millions have meditated through millennia!
Thanksgiving grows richer and births hope when we refer to the Giver as well as the gift.
