A W A K E N I N G
Alive, alert, awake, enthusiastic?
Research suggests that in summer we tend to sleep a little less - hands up who hates missing a sunny morning due to a semi-unplanned lie-in! "Awake" and "aware" share the same root, linked to increased consciousness. Although we hail the modern virtue of "raising awareness", some of us are so driven towards personal growth that we come to hope eternity will feel like a long-deserved nap!
Apparently there are tricks for bouncing out of bed, from leaving the alarm right across the room, to simply hitting the hay on time. Popular lately is the law of no pixels for the last hour awake. Perhaps wise, considering little flashing lights not only stimulate physiologically, but convey a non-stop torrent of information - which can leave us hyper-vigilant, prepared for faraway or virtual danger. Or bloated and hungover on the rotten fruit of doom-scrolling. Doesn't sound like a recipe for either sweet dreams or being a morning person.
"Be prepared". So says the Scouts' duty-focused motto, and so says Scar in The Lion King, when threatening destruction! So what are the best things to prepare for?
Come along to this totally free, informal, all-ages event, where we'll explore the joy of coming alive to Reality! It will include music and words from our special guest Fr Paschal Uche, a twist on the espresso martini, and an extended time of praise and worship...
This is an invitation-only celebration - and you can certainly invite people! Ideally we want everyone there to know at least one other person in the room, but space is finite and we need to keep track of numbers. So if you're planning to attend yourself, feel free to think about others who might like to join you, then invite them by giving them the link to this webpage.
Our event is "bring and share" - so if you'd like to eat, or drink something other than espresso martinis, please bring snacks and ready-to-eat food with you to share!
Please confirm your own attendance by emailing events@edwinfawcett.com, or by contacting Edwin directly.
